President’s Day Margaritas

Presidents’ Day is two days earlier than International Margarita Day (IMD) on February 22, so margaritas appear to be within reach nearly everywhere leading up to IMD. Many restaurants have started to promote their IMD specials, so this should be the easiest margarita search you’ll have this year if you plan to eat or drink out.

For those who plan to focus on private or family Presidents’ Day gatherings, we have highlighted four magnificent margaritas that can be made at home… theoretically.

1. Presidente Margarita (Chili’s Grill And Bar)

Our first is a national favorite. While it is not clear to us if this recipe existed before 1994, there is no doubt that Chili’s Grill And Bar claims it and it’s birth on October 21, 1994, and they have played a big role in perfecting and making it famous.  Click here for the recipe and instructions. You won’t regret it. It’s a classic, and a lot of bloggers and rating sites confirm it.

2. Red, White, & Blue Margarita

This is a delightful drink from Delish, and it’s presentation is just as fun as it’s taste.  What’s more presidential than a glass full of red, white, and blue ingredients!  And thanks to Delish, you can see exactly how it’s made by watching this video.

3. Cherry Blossum Margarita (a.k.a. POTUS 1 Margarita)

Our third margarita is named after the 1st President of the United States (POTUS) — George Washington. We realize the whole chopping-down-the-cherry-tree story was fabricated by one of his biographers, but there is no doubt that Washington DC is full of the trees and the myth has stuck with him. Besides, we like the story of his honesty, and this is a solid margarita.

4. GREATEST GREATEST Margarita (a.k.a. POTUS 45 Margarita)

Our final margarita is named after the 45th President of the United States (POTUS) — Donald Trump.

After thinking about how Trump would approach this, we universally agreed to name it the GREATEST GREATEST Margarita, and – yes – the capitalized letter are intentional.  We’re certain Trump would see it that way.  And since Trump popularized the slogan MAGA — Make America Great Again — what could be better?  America (by definition) includes Mexico and Canada, and we literally have NO Tequila without Tequila, Mexico, because the amazing fermented unique Blue Agave plant grows there.  So, it’s truly America’s greatest greatest drink.

Thankfully Trump’s border wall and the renegotiation of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) did not close the border with Mexico, and Tequila benefited.  As a result, we have gathered only the finest and most expensive ingredients for the GREATEST GREATEST Margarita.  They are:

  • Tequila.  Choose either:
    • Ley Tequila 925 Diamante ($3,500,000 for the diamond and platinum bottle, barrel-aged for 7 years) OR
    • Clase Azul 15th Anniversary Edition Tequila (only $30,000 per bottle) OR
    • Others listed on the 5 Most Expensive Tequilas list
  • Orange Liquor.  Grand Marnier Grande Cuvee Quintessence ($3,500 per bottle)
  • Persian or Tahitian Limes, imported same day
  • Rose-shaped ice created from elite-filtered water.  No joke.  Get the ice tray here.

As as always, if these choices do not satisfy your exceptionally high requirements, take a quick peak at our Margarita Matchmaker.  The budget for most of the drinks is probably much in line with your reality.
